BWF-Approved Badminton Court Mat Performance Overview

BWF-certified PVC badminton court flooring is the highest standard of flooring material established by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) for professional badminton courts. Its performance, safety, and environmental friendliness must pass rigorous testing. This BWF certification is provided by our partner company Dongxing Plastic. Our product quality and performance have been tested according to standards such as EN14904 (06/2006) and comply with BWF standards. If you intend to use it for professional competition venues, our PVC flooring material fully meets the requirements.

Material and specifications

Thickness requirements: The standard thickness is 4.5mm-6.0mm, with a recommended thickness of ≥5mm for competition-grade flooring. The wear-resistant layer must have a thickness of ≥0.7mm pure polyurethane (PU) coating (not ordinary PVC layer). Flooring that is too thin cannot provide sufficient elasticity and shock absorption, increasing the risk of athlete injury; flooring that is too thick may impair movement speed.

Color specifications: The primary color must be international standard blue or green, forming high contrast with white markings to avoid visual fatigue interfering with the competition. For example, Olympic badminton venues often use dark blue PVC flooring with white borders to ensure athletes' focus.

Structural design: A multi-layer composite structure is required, including a wear-resistant layer (≥0.7mm), elastic layer, and stabilizing layer. The wear-resistant layer must pass the TAPPI T479 standard test to ensure no significant surface wear after long-term use.

Physical Performance Indicators

Anti-slip coefficient: 0.4 ≤ μ ≤ 0.6 (must meet standards in both wet and dry conditions) to prevent athletes from slipping during sudden stops or direction changes. For example, Dongxing & Shengbang's BWF approved badminton court mat features a special textured design that maintains stable friction even in wet conditions.

Impact absorption: Competition-grade flooring must absorb ≥55% of impact force (measured using a drop ball tester), effectively protecting athletes' ankles, knees, and other joints.

Ball rebound rate: The rebound height after a vertical drop (from a height of 1m) must be ≥90cm (rebound rate ≥90%), ensuring stable rebound height after the shuttlecock lands, in accordance with competition rules. Excessively high rebound (e.g., >110%) can lead to difficulty in ball control; excessively low rebound (<85%) can deplete athletes' stamina.

Vertical deformation: It must be controlled between 2.3-5.0mm (EN 14904 standard), ensuring ground elasticity while preventing excessive indentation that could hinder movement. This ensures the floor has sufficient cushioning to reduce joint injuries and prevent excessive softness that could cause movement delays.
